Our New Website is Launched

Our new website was launched by the Minister for Disability Issues, Hon. Tariana Turia, at our Wellington Seminar function on Tuesday 24 July. It gives us an exciting new way to tell you all about our activities and share with you the information we have to offer.

We have worked hard to produce a website that demonstrates how mainstream tools can be effectively used to build a site that is modern, functional, contemporary and visually pleasing, while at the same time being fully accessible to people using screen readers and other adaptive technology.

Audio Description on TVNZ Now Close to 20 hours per week

The latest news from TVNZ is that they are now averaging about 20 hours per week of audio described programming. This is amazing given how quietly the service started in just March last year. The two regular popular programmes with audio description are Coronation Street on TV One and Shortland Street on TV Two. A variety of other films and programmes are also being described including programmes made in New Zealand.
